Best EVER Pumpkin Spice Latte
This pumpkin spice latte takes just 5 minutes and a few pantry staples. No more standing in long coffee shop lines. And, best of all, it’s delicious. It’s made with coffee, milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and honey.
I can’t believe how quickly fall is here. One of the first things I do to welcome fall is to make my homemade spice mixes, such as my pumpkin, gingerbread, and chai spice blend.
Of course, the moment you have pumpkin spice on hand you have to make a pumpkin latte. The truth is, I am not a coffee drinker, and yet, I do love my latte both hot as well as iced. But, instead of making a trip to Starbucks, I prefer to make mine at home.
Why make this spice latte
- It really is better than any store-bought latte you can buy.
- Commercial drinks are loaded with unnecessary sugars making them so unhealthy. You are in control of this one!
- This recipe is very simple and gets ready in five minutes.
- Most of the ingredients are pantry staples plus pumpkin puree.
- And the best part is, it is so versatile and you can tweak it in anyway you like. For example, use almond milk or maple syrup.
Ingredients and substitutes
- I am using regular 2% milk. But, almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk would also be delicious.
- I am using canned pumpkin puree. And yet, feel free to use homemade if you have.
- You can use a strong espresso coffee if you like your latte strong. I am using regular instant coffee.
- To sweeten, I like using honey or maple syrup. But, brown sugar has a wonderful molasses flavor and color too.
- Today, I topped it with whipped cream because it looks so fancy and pretty. But, usually, I just have mine as is without any whipped cream on top. Just a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg works for me. You can even top it with milk foam.
Pumpkin spice latte
- Brew the coffee and set it aside.
Pro tip – I like to use regular instant coffee. For a stronger flavor try espresso. - In a saucepan, combine the milk, pumpkin puree, honey, pumpkin spice, and honey. Heat over medium heat until it comes to a boil – set aside.
Pro tip – You can also do this in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave until nice and bubbling. - In a heatproof glass, pour the coffee, followed by the hot milk mixture.
- For garnish, you can use whipped cream, milk foam, or just sprinkle some more spices. Today, I topped it with whipped cream, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon.
You can keep any leftover latte in the fridge for up to 3 days. Then, you can have it as an iced latte or reheat it in the microwave or saucepan.
Yes, did you know that the original latte by Starbucks had no pumpkin puree in it? Later, the recipe changed over the years. But, I do think the pumpkin puree adds a nice flavor. But yes, you can omit it.
You can make your own with just a few pantry staples. But, you can also use any or as many of these spices – 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp cloves, 1/8 tsp cardamom spice.
Commercial latte is loaded with sugar. So, even if you add skimmed milk it still does not make it healthy. Instead, make it at home and use honey or maple syrup. That way, you can afford these lattes more often.

This looks just the ticket for cosy autumn evenings. Saving the recipe to enjoy later in the year as we currently having a heatwave in Scotland. Thanks!
Such a wonderful latté recipe with all the tastes of fall. Using a cinnamon stick as a garnish and a flavorful stirring stick is a wonderful idea.
It’s the season for pumpkin again and I am so happy! This recipe is so easy to follow and the result is so much better than what you get out of pre-made powder, I can see myself having this through winter!
Using pumpkin spice and puree is such a fabulous idea to take this latte to the next level. Love the cinnamon as well for extra flavour 😀
